The Ecstasy of Madam Dolorosa by CarrieAnnBaade The Ecstasy of Madam Dolorosa by CarrieAnnBaade
Have you ever had an Anna Karinina kind of day?
Where you fall head over heals for some dashing man, forsake your husband, abandon a child, drive a lover to shoot himself, leave a life of respect for one of self serving lust, go mad with suspicion, and then throw yourself under a train? ....and then kind of enjoyed the trauma of it?

oddly familiar with those kind of days...

Wonderfully portrayed, your gallery is just exquisite. I love your use of eyes, that is very unique and quite disturbing in many of your pieces. :)

Hello
Would you mind if I emulated the use of color and your compositional structure as you have here in this piece for school? I am an undergraduate illustration major; this is for my drawing 3 class.
I would create an image rather different from yours in content and meaning, but I would utilize the compositional structure and color pallet you have used here. I would need to make color prints for reference.
If you would be willing to allow me to use your piece as an inspiration, I would of course give credit to you in any publication.
Please consider and get back to me as soon as Tuesday, October 7, 2008. I do apologize for giving you such short notice and hope that you have time to contemplate and respond to my request.
Thank you in advance for your time,
-Emma

I have just finished the book. I coundn't simpathize with Anna, so I'd rather think of this piece as a reinterpretation of the Mater Dolorosa. In such a case it think it fits perfectly.

No... I can't say I have ever had a day like that. I'll let you know if I do, though.

Piece is great, the colors really pop. I love how busy it seems without being so. Great work and congrats on DD.

Wow, this is phenomenal.
I prefer to view art as a piece of music; the artist wrote it for a reason, so there must be a story behind it. Yet, you still have your own personal interpretations of what you see within that story and sometimes there's room for improvisation. The story GIVES it a reason for being, and the personal interpretation gives it meaning for YOU.
It's beautiful. :+fav:
