I've heard the term Anxiety of Influence in Literary Theory. It basically describes the tendency that the followers of a certain movement/person have to overthrow/surpass/transcend it/him by nullifying, contradicting or radically changing its premises, operations and tools.

It would be interesting to see how this relates to the painting you've done.

Great idea and execution.
